Google is rewarding responsive websites because they provide a better user experience to smartphone and tablet searchers! Starting April 21st, Google will rank responsive sites higher than non-responsive sites, and it will have a significant impact on Google search rankings.
For those that don’t know, responsive means that your website will be visually optimized regardless of user device (mobile, tablet or desktop). Responsive design provides the fastest access to the information your user wants, in an appealing manner. Basically, a responsive design site adapts itself easily to the device the user chooses to find you on. This is great news if your site is responsive, because, starting April 21st, your site will receive a higher ranking over all those non-responsive sites.
If you want to test your site to see if it’s responsive/mobile-friendly, go to this link… Mobile Friendly Link from Google, to see how the Google Search Engine views your site.
If you have a website and it is not responsive…meaning it does not conform to different screen sizes, such as a mobile phone or tablet, you should seriously think about getting one. In that case, you can go to this link.. Masterpiece Web Designs, and we are more than happy to help you.
Not only is responsive design great for search engine optimization, but using one site rather than multiple sites for the same content avoids duplicate content, eliminates the need for redirects and makes it easier for users to share your web address. In addition, maintenance on a responsive design site is easier, more cost effective and leaves less room for error when you are maintaining one site rather than multiple sites.
With so many mobile and tablets users today, your site needs to be just as appealing to the ‘modern’ user as it is to the desktop user. Users tend to stay on sites that they can easily navigate through. (And, for those of you familiar with Google Analytics, responsive sites help decrease your Bounce Rate.)
